Bert Tolley

bertieBertie “Bert” G. Tolley, age 85, of Nekoosa, died Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Strawberry Lane Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Wisconsin Rapids.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 PM at Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home in Nekoosa. Rev. Chuck Tews will officiate. A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Online condolences may be expressed at ritchayfuneralhome.com.

Bert was born March 11, 1929 in Arkdale to Christ and Bertha (Martin) Tolley. He married Loretta Wormet on July 8, 1998 in Las Vegas, NV. Bert was employed as an electrician, retiring due to a disability. He was a member of the IBEW union based in Madison. In later years, he worked as a custodian at churches in Arkdale and Wisconsin Rapids. Bert was a member of the Adams-Friendship Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed singing in the church choir.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta; his son, Kenneth Tolley of Mauston, his daughter, Susan Lunzman of Sparta; 6 grandchildren, Joshua, Aaron, Cory, Amanda, Madison and Sara; 3 great grandchildren; 2 stepchildren, Rodney Wormet of Nekoosa and JoAnn Wormet of Wisconsin Rapids; 5 step grandchildren; his brother, Donn (Rose) Tolley of Madison; his sisters, Mary Ann Ward of California and Jean Dean of Janesville; and his former wife Barbara.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Louis, stepson, Gregory Wormet, his brothers, Floyd, Harold, Raymond, and Clark Tolley, and his sisters, Mildred Bethke, June Oleson, Chrystle Lewer, and Myrtle Mattson.

We can picture him sitting at the kitchen table across from my dad – the two of them drinking coffee, laughing and talking smart – we can see it as if it were yesterday.
